Social Welfare Perm Sec Calls For Teamwork, Unity… Promises Rewards
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation (MSWR), Lauretta Davies-Dimkpa, has charged Heads of Our Gallery (HODs) in the Ministry to work harmoniously to foster a positive work environment. She gave the charge at her inaugural meeting with the HODs, where she stressed the need for unity and good relationships among staff, noting that it’s key to delivering quality service and achieving organizational success. The new Permanent Secretary urged them to put aside their personal differences and “work like brothers and sisters”, given the significant time spent in the office daily, to make work easier and live healthier lives. “Allow some things slide and maintain a cheerful heart to live longer. Harbouring bitterness and anger against your colleague for the eight hours we’re alive and active at work can drain you”, she advised. She also outlined plans to visit the Ministry’s Homes and Zonal Offices for first-hand assessment and to identify areas for improvement. Davies-Dimkpa reiterated that she’s a proponent of positive change, enjoining the HODs to accept potential office changes that may take place with a positive attitude.
